While establishing resilience in the face of adversity, Donte Randall, CADCII , (Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor and Morehouse Grad) has a story to tell. His story has been shared with hundreds of people in order to assist with their recovery and or reunite them with their loved ones. With 20+years of mental health and addiction experience, Donte has dedicated his career and life towards benefiting the ‘Human condition’. His home discipline is psychology, with an emphasis on addictive disease.
Donte Randall has worked in various capacities including legal, inpatient, and community. As a substance abuse counselor, he has assisted in all facets of treatment. Within the community, Donte has assisted individuals as they work through their addictions while facing triggering environmental odds. Donte has assisted with transitioning towards inpatient options as well. Donte has served with several inpatient hospitals such as St Jude recovery, Georgia Regional Hospital, Peachford Behavioral Health Hospital, Grady Hospital, and Breakthrough Recovery. Donte continues to advocate for individuals who find themselves entangled in the legal system due to negative consequences brought on by addiction. During his tenure at the Fulton County Drug court, Donte understands the need for advocacy when facing a judge and additional legal proceedings. With several years of standing beside his clients while in court, Donte recognizes the importance of second chances. Advocacy for his clients are extended to DFACS cases as well. Donte has strongly supported families that are affected by addiction. For those that are accused unfairly, he draws a hard line around visibility and humanity, representing for those of us who are often pushed to the margins by default. His background in addictive disease informs his research addiction counseling orientation. It is naturally fit to his emphasis on learning from lived experiences, particularly from those whose identities are frequently left unexamined. These life stories ground his identity theory development in strengths.
Donte’s clinical experience related to addiction comorbidity (the simultaneous presence of two chronic diseases or conditions in a patient) and the psychosocial experiences related to addiction.
